Rialto police officer accidentally shot in locker room

A Rialto police officer was accidentally shot in the left arm by a single shot from a shotgun late Friday afternoon.

The officer, who was in the men's locker room of the police department preparing for duty, was immediately transported by paramedics to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center where he underwent surgery.

He is recovering.

Police would not release any other details about the incident.

San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department investigators are looking into the shooting.

An internal investigation is also being conducted by supervising staff of the Rialto Police Department.
