Passengers aboard El Salvador-based plane stranded at ONT seven hours

An aircraft bound for Los Angeles International Airport was diverted to Ontario this morning due to fog, and passengers remained aboard the aircraft about seven hours.

The Taca plane diverted to Ontario International Airport between 11:30 p.m. and midnight late Sunday and  was tentatively expected to continue to LAX between 7 and 7:30 a.m. today. That time might change, said ONT spokeswoman Maria Tesoro-Fermin.

Crew members provided water to passengers while they waited. A new crew was also being sent to man the plane because the group had been flying too long, Tesoro-Fermin said.

It was unknown how many passengers were on board the Taca airlines plane, which is based in El Salvador.
