A midday fire at Braswell's Yucaipa Valley Convalescent Hospital led to evacuations Tuesday afternoon but no injuries, officials said.

Firefighters had the fire, which was reported at 11:40 a.m., under control by 12:10 p.m., said a Cal Fire dispatcher.

The cause of the fire at 35253 Avenue H is still under investigation, he said.

The fire at the 59-bed facility was confined to the roof and heating, ventilating and air-conditioning system, though smoke did spread through the building.

The dispatcher did not know how many people were evacuated.

A woman who answered the phone at the hospital Tuesday night said no one there could provide information about the fire.
