A 32-year-old West Covina man died Sunday afternoon after crashing his motorcycle during a race at the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana.

Joey Paul Lopez was racing a 2007 Suzuki 600 superbike in a sanctioned motorcycle race when he lost control of his bike and collided with an air-soft wall, coroner's officials said.

Lopez was taken to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center in Colton, where he died at 1:37 p.m.
Speedway officials could not be immediately reached for comment.
