A 75-year-old Redlands man was held hostage in his home Sunday while a robber ransacked it, police said.

The man answered the door of his house in the 1400 block of East San Bernardino Avenue  and was confronted by a man holding a gun, said Redlands city spokesman Carl Baker.

The robber tied the man's hands before taking his wallet, cash and credit cards, police said.

The robber is described as a Latino man in his 40s with a mustache, 5-feet 6-inches tall and 180 pounds. He was last seen wearing a turtleneck and blue jeans.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Rob Williams at (909) 798-7659 or Redlands Police Dispatch at (909) 798-7681.
