A teen boy who stole two 18-packs of beer from a store in Apple Valley on Sunday night was later caught when he became intoxicated and started damaging property at a home, sheriff's officials said.

The 17-year-old boy, whose name wasn't released because of his age, was booked into juvenile hall on suspicion of burglary.

San Bernardino County sheriff's deputies said the teen entered a store in the 17900 block of Highway 18 at 8 p.m. and stole beer. They found the boy in the 15000 block of Tuscola Court when deputies received a report of a disturbance.

The boy, who was drunk and damaging property at the residence, was identified as the same person captured on surveillance video from the beer theft, sheriff's officials said. Deputies also arrested a second teen at the home after discovering he had an arrest warrant.
