UPDATE: Fontana shooting victim had no weapon
The 17-year-old Fontana boy who was gunned down in front of his own home Monday night did not have a gun or weapon of any kind on him, said Fontana Sgt. Jeff Decker.
Police officers responded to a shooting about 8 p.m. in the 9800 block of Chantry Avenue, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Coroner.
Darious Simmons, of Fontana was found with upper body trauma.
Simmons was transported to Kaiser Foundation Hospital. He was pronounced dead at 8:57 p.m., the coroner said.
Decker could not release much information on the homicide, but he did say the incident was a "walk-up shooting, as opposed to a drive-by shooting."
"We have not ruled out gang involvement in the homicide," Decker said.

He has a one year old daughter who will never have memories of her dad besides the pictures we took.I will never kiss my brother again, I will never hug my brother again.He will not be graduating from high school this year because of this and he will not be attending his sisters wedding because of this.Instead of my brother having his birthday in a few weeks he is having a funeral. Crystal I am so sorry for you and your families loss. I could not imagine what you are going through. Your brother did not deserve to die like this, may God bless you and your family and trust the coward that did this will get his!

Crystal I really dont know what to say. Ive only know you 4 years. I feel like part of your family. Your family is very strong and I know you will be okay. Those family members whom I met are wounderful people. I dont have anything to bad to say. I would be proud to be part of your family. I am so sorry this world has change with this loss. The wimp who did this is a coward. This person took a life, took a dad, took a son took a brother there is no reason for murder. Let me say I hope you get caught by the cops you sissy because I dont want to lose anyone in Crystal family. Turn yourself in. It would be the smartest choice you will ever have to make. Crystal, I'm so sorry for your loss. I know how you feel. I lost my little brother 2 years ago too. And it's very hard and even though its been 2 years that heart ache is still there. How ever, since this happend to our family we found the peace and confirt in our Lord Jesus Christ. And he has given us the wisdom to know and accept his will...Your brother has left his life here but has entered iternal life in heaven and will whatch over you all from up above. My heart and prayers go out to your family....May GOD bless your family and give you peace.
