Upland's Cable Airport set for annual air show
Bob Cable could not ask for a better weekend.
With temperatures in the high 70s and plenty of sunshine expected Saturday and Sunday, the 34th annual Cable Air Show should go off without a hitch.
"That's why we always do it in January," said Cable, president of Cable Airport. "It doesn't get any better than this."
The show this weekend will include old-time aerobatics, a classic-car show that will have 100 vehicles and, of course, planes such as a North American Aviation P-51 Mustang fighter, a B-25 Mitchell bomber and a Douglas C-53 Skytrooper.

Stunt pilots Doug Jardin and Rob Harrison
will perform their crowd-pleasing routines.
"That's exciting," Cable said.
Parachute teams will perform a 16-man parachute fall.
"It's a waterfall of color when they come out of the plane and open their chutes," Cable said.
Riverside pilot Martin Kennedy, in his first air show, will perform rolls, tumbles, pinwheels and what he calls the "wow factor."
Demonstrations by antique and military planes as well as the aerobatics will be from 10 to 11:30 a.m. and 2 to 3:30 p.m.
"People can be excited about the whole day," Cable said.
