A woman whose body was found along Highway 330 on Monday has been identified as Cori Daye Desmond, 28, of Torrance.

San Bernardino County sheriff's deputies continued their investigation into the woman's death Tuesday, saying her vehicle had been found by the Redondo Beach Police Department.

Detectives planned to examine the vehicle for evidence, sheriff's officials said.

A motorist saw a mound of dirt and what he thought was a foot protruding from a bag in a turnout off Highway 330 in lower Running Springs at 2:24 p.m. A California Highway Patrol officer in the area checking vehicles for snow chains verified the remains were human and called the Sheriff's Department.

Anyone with information regarding this investigation may call Sgt. Tony De Cecio or Detective Trevis Newport, (909) 387-3589. Anonymous callers may contact WeTip, (800) 78-CRIME.
