Pedestrian robbed at gunpoint while walking in Claremont
Armed robbers held a man at gunpoint while they stole his wallet, cell phone and camera in Claremont late Wednesday, police said.
The Montclair resident was walking near the intersection of Oak Park Drive and Springfield Avenue at 10:25 p.m. when two men approached him, said Claremont police Lt. Dennis Smith.
One of the men pulled out a handgun and stole the man's property, police said.
The robbers ran north on College Avenue from Oak Park.
The victim walked home to Montclair before calling the police. He was not injured.

Claremont used to be a nice, safe village nestled in the Foothills. No more. We have had a home owner beaten to near death in his home...we have had a homocide...and now, this. I am really concerned. What is happening? Is the police not around? Are going to be afraid to leave our house? Something needs to be done to return us to being nice and safe.
Reaffirmation of our 2nd amendment rights is the answer.
The days of being nice and safe is pretty much over. I agree with the patriot on our 2nd amendment right totally. I suppose if I were to go for a walk at 10:25 p.m. I would be taking two dear old friends with me, Mr. Smith and Mr. Wesson. We all are in survival mode in this economy right now, so we must do what we have to do.
Not until the "lefties" in this town face the reality of what the world is REALLY like, versus their Simon & Garfunkel world view, nothing will change. Rather than punish these "sleaze-balls", they'd prefer to understand, learn and analyze their present state to better understand what drove them to act this way.
My view, simply shoot them on sight.
wow, an quite a violent response to violence. as for 2nd ammendment rights, i believe it was the homeowner's weapon that was used to beat him? (though i admit i don't have all of the facts). if one carries or keeps a weapon, it increases the likelihood of someone using it - or their own - against you.
Well, as a single mom, I am getting the best little gun I can handle and taking shooting lessons. I have ADT Security, however, by the time police get to my home, it may be too late.
I forgot to add that a college criminal justice professor once told our class to "do as the police do; shoot to kill" if a burglar enters your home since it can turn around and bite you in the behind and they could very well sue you. Have you heard the story of the senior that was sued by her robber for using her knitting needles as a hidden weapon?
I think we have own own Simon & Garfunkel right here in Anonymous' thread, only a big time "lefty" would think that way. You're right about one thing, you don't have all the facts, and I hope that you never become a victim. If you do, please post it for all of us to read!
Oddly enough, the article states that the robbers fled NORTH on College from Oak Park. Could it be these robbers were a couple Claremont "lefties" just out collecting some entitlements?
