San Bernardino police wrote 51 tickets and arrested 11 people during a sobriety checkpoint Saturday.

The eight-hour checkpoint also resulted in eight vehicles being impounded.

Three of the motorists arrested were suspected of driving while under the influence. Eight other people were suspected of other various charges or had arrest warrants, police said.

8 hour DUI checkpoint with only 3 DUIs?
I wish the police would quit lying about their intentions.
The 51 tickets and 8 impounded cars is the real money maker for these uneducated police officers. (Remember, no education required to be a cop).
These guys are cashiers, not police- the shame of it is these guys would rather BE cashiers than police.

Those 3 DUI arrests could have saved 3 or more lives. Good work! If they impound 8 cars, that's just a bonus. They don't impound cars without reason. If you break the law you have to expect to pay the price.

I'm also glad 3 drunks were taken off our roads, but let's be honest cops are giving more and more senseless tickets . They have a certain quota to make. And some are complete jerks and thats putting it nicely. We had a CHP pull my family over for tinted windows. Others were speeding by us . I guess tinted windows were more of a threat than speed that day.

No ticket is senseless. Only a moron would say they are. Violating the law is senseless. Those three drunks could have killed three or more families. Glad they were arrested. The cars impounded were on the road illegally most likely due to the drivers being unlicensed and therefore a hazard. The other arrests were just icing on the cake. More criminals off the streets.

You say cops have quotas - how about calling it what it is - they are doing their jobs. I am assuming you are employed and if you weren't making sales, delivering, etc wouldn't you get in trouble? If the cops aren't giving tickets or arresting people then their superiors would be wondering why they weren't doing their jobs. Come on that is common sense. They don't get bonuses for how many tickets - they don't get awards. They are doing their jobs!

And as for not needing an education to be a cop - get your facts straight Rex. They might not need a degree to initially start but they need one to promote and that doesn't even include the numerous schools they attend to better themselves as an officer.

Maybe when the CHP officer pulled you over your were doing something else that brought attention to yourself so that is why you got pulled over. Either way you were breaking the law! so get over it!

So from what I get from you two - is that you are NOT law abiding citizens and that your families must not be either. Because any respectful, law abiding citizen doesn't mind cops doing their jobs, or making arrests or upholding the law! So grow up and quit being a drain on society!
