Shakespeare Festival coming to the Redlands Bowl

| | Comments (0) |

Vengeance will take center stage at the Redlands Bowl when the Shakespeare Festival begins May 7.

This year's festival, themed "Season of Vengeance," will include productions of "The Tempest," "Hamlet," and "Measure for Measure."

The 35-member company has been rehearsing since the beginning of March.

A pre-show lecture series and educational workshop is also planned. The lectures will be given by college professors and are intended to help the audience better understand the plays. The lectures will be held at the Bowl, prior to Thursday performances.

The educational workshops will be held at the A.K. Smiley Public Library and will address theatrical components including "Stage Combat," "Meet the Leads," "The Authorship Question," and "Period Costuming."

Workshops are from 1 to 4 p.m. at the library the first and third Saturdays of the festival.

Performances are 8 p.m. Thursday through Sunday evenings, May 7 through May 24.
