Woman killed in Colton car crash identified

Coroner's officials have identified a Los Angeles woman killed early Friday in a Colton car crash as 32-year-old Amanda Jones.

Jones was speeding about 1 a.m. in her 2007 Toyota Corolla north on Pepper Avenue, passing other vehicles on the right hand shoulder, officials said.

While going through the intersection at San Bernardino Avenue, she hit a traffic signal and the Toyota flipped onto its roof. Colton firefighters confirmed her dead at the scene.

At least this dumb driver; speeding and driving on the shoulder, didn't take anyone else out with her "skills".
Yeah Darwinism.

Nass said:

i will have to agree with nelson..thankfully she didnt hurt anyone with her "indy racing skills"

It's always sad when someone dies in a traffic accident, even if they were at fault or doing something completely irresponsible. But as Nelson and Nass said, it could have been much worse, she could have taken an innocent person or family to their deaths with her.

That being said, the ignorant "Darwinism" crack was not needed. It seems that when lower-class individuals comment on a senseless death where someone did something reckless that brought it on, the same ignorant "Darwin" comment always shows up. It's unfortunate, because often family and friends of the deceased read these comments. Everyone who reads the article knows that she did something really reckless and irresponsible that ended in her tragic death. We all know that. We read it ourselves. But to insult someone and hurt thier surviving family by referring to "Darwinism" is indefensible. This was someones child, a sister, a niece and grandaughter. Someone who loved and was loved, and is gone forever. Shame on you.

My condolences to the family of Amanda Jones. May God be with you at this tragic time.

I agree wuth China Boy, It's very unfortunate that this woman has died. But I do have to say that it's probably really "slow" drivers like Nelson that make drivers have to "speed" around them. My condolences to the family of Amanda.

Chino Boy-Thanks for posting your thoughtful comments. We all make poor decisions in our cars--but we don't all loose our life when we do. I happen to know Amanda's two surviving children, and grieving family. It saddens me to know that one day as her children seek closure from their grief, they will come across quick and cutting comments like Nelson & Nass posted. I hope this leaves us all with an awareness of how precious each day is.

You're welcome, Sarah. I wasn't aware that she was also a mother, or I would have listed children as members of her loved ones.
It's just so unfortunate that a reference to "Darwinism" was mentioned in these messages. There is a certain type of person with a certain mentality that just can't wait for an opportunity to blurt out that word when people die needlessly. We all know someone like that and who they are. And it very rarely comes from someone of higher intelligence.
Thinking back, most of us realize that at some time in our life we have done something irresponsible that very likely could have ended in our own serious injury or death. But simply by luck we got past that moment and survived. Otherwise we could easily be one of those statistics. And we could ourselves be the butt of a thoughtless comment by someone like Nelson or Nass.
Still, even realizing all this, it's hard to understand why someone like Nelson or Nass would want to make "humorous" and insulting remarks about someone who has just passed away. Someone who loved and was loved. A person who most likely would have stopped to help save the life of both Nelson or Nass had she been driving and come upon an accident where they were injured or dying. Someone who would have stopped and gave comfort to them, aided them or frantically summoned aid for them. But instead of realizing this, they make her the butt of their "humor".
There's an old addage that seems very appropriate for times like this. It's, "If you don't have something good to say, say nothing at all". Most people of even aveage intelligence would know that an incident like the tragic death of Amanda is one of those appropriate times.
There was a time when people would make jokes like these but they would make them in private, among friends. But it's truly sad that our country has sunk to the level where people make jokes like these on public forums for the whole world, and the loving families of these tragic accidents to read. And just as tragic that people from other countries read these blogs and get very negative images of the type of people that we Americans are. Even though 99 out of 100 Americans would NEVER be so disrespectful to the family of an accident victim who has died, that 1 percent like Nass or Nelson speak so loudly that it gives us all a bad reputation and shame. They shame all Americans by doing this. Very shameful.
