We interrupt this convention for a little humility
The discussion over Sarah Palin, working mom, is going to heat up even more in the days and weeks ahead. I hear it in our own newsroom - some saying it's sexist to suggest that she's putting career ahead of family, others arguing that her candidacy is in conflict with the traditional family values espoused by the GOP.
I can't tell you what it's like to be a working mom. I am a single father raising two young daughters, however. Ours is not a world of Mulberry Lanes, but of working parents - married and single - trying to navigate an increasingly complicated set of challenges.
While I admit that I question certain choices Palin has made, I do so humbly, knowing that our options today are not black and white.

Anyone who watched the RNC last night and was witness to the speech of the Republican candidate for Vice President has to say they were impressed in many different ways. All were refreshing too. The Governor of Alaska illuminated a star in politics like what has not been seen a very very long time. Her qualifications are second to none, and perhaps better that the Presidential candidates themselves. She has looked adversity in the eye and spit! Big business (oil), political corruption and special interests in Alaska all know her and respect her for what she has done. Afraid of no one, afraid of nothing, no challenge to big from a band-aid on a knee to a boarder where one of our biggest adversities resides (The Soviet Union) along with one of our closest allies (Canada) she has foreign government experience. She sent the Alaskan National Guard off to war, then followed them, not to play basketball when she arrived but to show them AMERICA and Alaska was there with them. Her priorities are aligned without compromising her family and children. Her love and devotion to the special needs of family members will not be affected but strengthened.
There are many other states that could benefit from a like person in their ranks. Big enough to pick and win her battles yet compassionate enough to be mom.
How exciting at a time when this election was at the door of uncertainty and questionable statesmanship. She brings hope and promise that is unmatched unchallenged and focused on her representation of the people who will elect her and Senator John McCain. She will remain accountable to one and all. Good Luck Governor Sarah Palin and God Bless America…finally a true breath of fresh air.
