Fires draw heavy online traffic

Lots of interest in the I-215 fires, based on our web traffic this week. Louis Amestoy, our senior content editor, reports 153,936 page views and 20,674 unique visitors to sbsun.com on Tuesday - our busiest day of the year. That's on top of 123,722 page views and 17,598 unique visitors the day before. During those two days, our 24/7 blog was updated 171 times.

Mr. Lambert, how true there now seems to be a big void where comments used to be in the Sun's blogs. Perhaps it is time to reconsider your "rules" or whatever and return to the free speech approach that was originally enjoyed by your readers. Having it this (one) way is not communicating. I think you would agree to communicate, there MUST be two way dialog.

The "new" rules are really "old" rules -- with the exception of anonymity, the same standards we've held to with our printed letters to the editor. We welcome all who wish to participate in a civil, constructive discussion.
