And the winners are....

Cruz Pedregon made it two for two for the Pedregon brothers Sunday.

The pieces all fell into place for Cruz Pedregon Sunday.
The Southern California native did his job, winning a first-round matchup with Jerry Toliver, then watched one-by-one as the two other championship contenders fell, giving the second-generation racer his second Funny Car title, but his first since 1992.
He then capped the day by winning the Auto Club of Southern California NHRA Finals at Fairplex. Other winners were Larry Dixon in Top Fuel, Greg Anderson in Pro Stock and Chris Rivas in Pro Stock Motorcycle. Eddie Krawiec, who advanced to the finals, also won the PSM season title.

"There's no way I thought it would be clinched in the first round," said Pedregon, who made it two for two in consecutive years for his family after younger brother Tony Pedregon won the title last season. "I had no clue I could win this thing. Part of me feels bad for Tim Wilkerson (who won six races, but finished in second under the playoff-format), but the playoff is the playoff. I'm sure the (New York Giants) didn't feel bad for the Patriots when they beat them (in the Super Bowl).
"I think Tim, and (Jack) Beckman, Ashley Force ...those cars deserved a lot of credit, but this was a hard fought battle to the end."
But it worked in perfect order for Pedregon after Wilkerson red-lit for the first time in 97 races in a first-round loss to John Force, and his brother beat Robert Hight, also in the first round, giving Pedregon the title. Tony Pedregon and Beckman were eliminated from the championship when Cruz won in the first round.
He then continued the fun, beating Force, top-qualifier Mike Neff and Ron Capps to put an exclamation point on his title run.
"I told the team, 'After winning that championship, I don't care what else happens today,'" Pedregon sid. "But when you get in that car, you are kind of programmed to act a certain way. We got to the semis, and Neff was running so good (that) I thought it was going to be his day, so I'll just go up there and would probably see his red fender. But we won, and then with Capps, he's been running well, but we just kept turning on win lights."

The same could be said for Dixon, who got better each round, including clinching second in Top Fuel points by beating La Habra's Cory McClenathan in the semifinals before getting by Rod Fuller in the finals.
"The car was just running great and I tried to hold up my end of the deal," said Dixon, who managed to stay ahead of Fuller despite his engine catching on fire just before the finish line. "While all of you are getting excited about the final round, I'm trying to get my firesuit out. I was on fire. It burned the parachutes off. We left it all on the track."
For Anderson, the win was good concession for finishing second in points. He is a three-time series champion.
"I just wanted to go out there and have a fun race,"said Anderson, who beat rival Kurt Johnson in the final when the latter red-lit. "The pressure was off. We just went out and had fun. The car was great, the driver didn't mess up, and we won a race again.
"I had a great day out there. I can't wait to get back here in February."
The day wasn't nearly as rewarding for Krawiec, but he doesn't mind after winning the Pro Stock Motorcycle title despite losing to Rivas in the finals. He is just the second pro competitor to win a title despite failing to win a race during the season.
"Consistency pays off. You just need to go rounds," Krawiec said. "We proved it during the countdown, going to the finals during four out of the last five races. I haven't had a chance to grab a Wally yet. But I'm glad I got that big gold Wally at the end."
Rivas, while disappointed in seeing his quest for the season title come up short, will take the race win.
"It feels incredible to get this win," Rivas said. "It kind of came unexpected."
