Auto Club Finals: Edwards clinches title

| | Comments (0) |

Above: Mike Edwards clinched his first Pro Stock title Saturday.

No one will say Mike Edwards backed into the Pro Stock championship.
The veteran punctuated his title run in grand fashion, running low e.t. of the meet with a 6.562-second run on the final qualifying pass of the weekend.
"That just shows what this team is made of," Edwards said. "They're fabulous. There have been times where I haven't been there, but they never gave up on me.
"I can't explain how I feel right now. You just try to sink it all in, if you can. It's so real, so satisfying for me. It's been such a long wait for me, but well worth the wait.
"It's just about a bunch of guys who made a plan a few years ago and try and give it our best effort. We just got on a roll and I thought middle of the summer, we have a chance. We made a lot of good decisions and got the job done."
