A little bit country

Due to a prior commitment (and let's just blame Time Warner cable for good measure), I'll be unable to see Mindy Smith perform when she visits the West Coast.

mindy.jpg Mindy is an absolutely delightful country/folk singer with a great voice and some mad songwriting skills. She's also based out of Nashville, which means there isn't much opportuntiy to see her play 'round these parts.

So I've devised what I think is a very generous offer for her to come to the San Fernando Valley and put on one more show. What will I include? Read on:

1. Round-trip airfare on Southwest Airlines. A carrier so classy you can pick your own seat AND keep the in-flight magazine at the end of the trip. Where else will can you read about the hottest clubs in Cleveland?

2. Accomodations at either the Best Western or on my futon. If she should choose the futon option, there is an endless supply of microwavable pizzas, as well as free play on a pinball machine (not even the Hilton offers that).

3. Complete meal at the Cheesecake Factory. We're talking appetizer, entree, and dessert. This is how much I appreciate good music.

4. And finally, the chance to show the people of Los Angeles that Fergie's "London Bridge" doesn't even really count as music.

So there you have it. Her people can get in contact with my people and I'll keep you posted.

God, I wish I had people.

Do yourself a favor and give Ms. Smith's new album, "Long Island Shores," a listen at www.mindysmith.net. You shant be disappointed. (I even plugged the album - this plan is too ingenious not to work).
