My influence on display

fountain.jpg It was just last week that I implored America's young women to continue their care-free ways by frolicking in our nation's fountains. And, as you can see, they've responded with great enthusiasm.

These shots by the DN's Michael Owen Baker are part of a photo gallery on Miss USA contestants posted at DailyNews.com.

I'm glad to see the Antonella Barba scandal didn't hold these women back when it came to beating the heat in SoCal. It just further demonstrates the strength of spirit behind the Miss USA contestants, and the elegance and poise behind the competition itself.

Let me take this opportunity to mention the fountain at the Sherman Oaks Galleria, where I can sometimes be found getting my Starbucks fix. No pressure... I'm just saying.
