Paul Oberjuerge: Johnny Publicly Spanked

| | Comments (0) |

Our dear, sweet Johnny Weir was roughed up by NBC commentator Scott Hamilton, who (if anyone) can say what he darn well pleases because Hamilton actually won Olympic gold.

This is after Weir said he got to the arena late for the free skate, melted down on the ice, dumping half his jumps, and fell from second to fifth.

Quotes from NBC:

SCOTT HAMILTON ON U.S. SKATER JOHNNY WEIR MISSING THE BUS AND FINISHING FIFTH: "I mean, it's an Olympic Games. What else do you have to do here? You know, besides be at your event and show up on time?"

"If he's going to compete at this level, A) he has to make his bus, and B) he really has to keep track of what he's doing in his programs. You work all year for this. You really need to be responsible if you're going to compete at this level."

Responsible? Johnny? Has Scott Hamilton been paying any attention at all?

Oh, for a replay of NBC's featurette on Johnny Being Johnny, go to gawker.com, find the entries for Feb. 15 and follow the link.
