Pomona Catholic wins D7 softball title

Amber Padilla pitched a perfect game, leading Pomona Catholic to the D7 softball title with a 1-0 victory over Burbank Bell-Jeff at Barber Park on Friday afternoon.
Padilla allowed only one ball hit to the outfield, retiring all 21 batters she faced. The only run scored on an RBI single in the first inning by Ashley Montion.
It was in sharp contrast to last year’s game, when Pomona Catholic beat Bell-Jeff for the title, 7-6.
The title is the 6th in Pomona Catholic’s history, tying coach Roger Wallace for the CIF-SS record for CIF titles by a coach.
