Los Osos WR adds Utah offer, credit’s track

It’s no coincidence that all of Victor Bolden’s scholarship offers to play football came on the heels of a track season that was the best in his school’s history. The first member of the Los Osos High School track team to reach the state meet has been issued four scholarship offers since his last race on June 1.

The senior receiver added Utah to the list on Tuesday, joining offers from Oregon State, Hawaii and FCS school Eastern Washington. The 5-foot-9, 165-pound Bolden is convinced his performance in the 300-meter hurdles has almost as much to do with the attention he’s receiving as the three-star prospect’s 48 receptions for 507 yards last season.

“If they see that you have that elite speed it can be a big deal to them,” Bolden said. “It’s crazy how they pick up on every little thing, but they noticed that I did so well in track and it it tells them that I have athletic ability, endurance and speed.”

Bolden was offered by Hawaii shortly after track season ended and received an offer from Oregon State two days after attending the Beavers’ camp at Fullerton Junior College on June 16. Bolden has also been in contact with Cal, USC and UCLA, all of which held camps he has attended this summer. He has also received interest from Oregon.

Bolden, who will likely play slot receiver but is also receiving interest as a cornerback, would prefer to make a decision about his college destination before his senior season begins.

“I think it would be better for my team and my family if I could commit before the season and if not, I want to make a decision early in the season,” Bolden said. “Right now, I’m just taking it all in.”
