Chino Hills High School senior setter Mallory Beard has been named California High School Player of the Week by the American Volleyball Coaches Association for her play the week of Sept. 28-Oct. 2.

The Huskies had just one match last week, beating South Hills 3-0 (25-19, 25-17, 27-25) in Sierra League play. But in that three-set match Beard registered 47 assists and enabled her team to hit .484 as a team.

Chino Hills (10-7) plays local rival Ayala tonight.
