Local football players nominated for prestigious game

Several local football standouts are among the 400 players nationwide nominated for the prestigious U.S. Army All-American Bowl, this year scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 3 in San Antonio.

Area players making the first list include defensive back Kanya Bell and athlete Antonio Hull of Diamond Bar, defensive backs Elijah Jones and Kameron Powell of Upland and offensive lineman Joseph Price and wide receiver Malik Lovette of Redlands East Valley.

A tour to present jerseys and honor those making the final cut to 90 will begin in the fall.

The past game the lone local participant was Damien long snapper Tanner Carew who is headed to University of Oregon.

It’s a well-respected all-star game with character and academics factors in the selection along with athletic ability.
