Etiwanda High School sophomore infielder Sydnie Trostle has decided to stick close to home and has committed to Cal Baptist.
Trostle helped the Eagles (18-8-1) to a Baseline League runner-up finish, hitting .377 with six doubles, a triple, five home runs and 22 RBI.
She thought about waiting for possible offers from Division I schools, but said Cal Baptist has always been high on her list.
“I want to be able to go to a place where I can focus on academics, too,” she said.
The Lancers went 46-13 last year, advancing to the West Region final in their first playoff-eligible season since moving from NAIA to NCAA Division II.
