Montclair football will forfeit two wins

Montclair High School started out the season 3-0 but the Cavaliers will be 1-2 on paper because the school will be forfeiting a 42-0 win over San Gabriel as well as a 23-6 victory over Garey.

The 34-19 win over Duarte will stand.

Montclair Athletic Director Bill Blades said the forfeits are the result of a paperwork oversight on a student-athlete that transferred into the school in the spring.

The student had sixth period football class in the spring and since he was in the school had grades, two places a possible oversight would have been caught.

But Blades said he was missing a form that needed to be signed off on by the parents, the school from the athlete came and the CIF.

“It’s unfortunate,” Blades said. “This doesn’t have to affect us moving forward. They’re not league games so our goal of winning league and going on to the playoffs is still there and reachable.”
Montclair is off this week but returns to action next Friday against Pomona High School.
