Two local softball standouts earn national recognition

Senior Paige Halstead of Los Osos and sophomore Taylon Snow of Chino Hills have been singled out by USA Today as preseason All-Americans.

The newspaper selected 20 players from around the country.
Both were first-team All-CIF and All-Inland Valley honorees last year.

Halstead, who has signed with UCLA, hit .500 (38 for 76) as a junior with 10 doubles, three triples, six home runs and 30 RBI. She played shortstop last year but is being moved to catcher to fill a void there.

Snow, who has committed to Washington, hit .567 with eight doubles, two triples, five home runs, 24 RBI and 39 runs scored as a freshman. She was named statewide Freshman of the Yea last year by CalHiSports.
