Volleyball standout Alexa Lister decides on Louisiana Tech

Alexa Lister Women's Volleyball Recruiting Profile

Middle hitter Alexa Lister of Chino Hills High School has committed to NCAA Division I Louisiana Tech.

At 6-foot-4 she is an imposing force at the net. She was under the radar when it came to high school volleyball because she had changed schools several times, most recently going from Chino Hills to Don Lugo. She wasn’t ruled eligible by the CIF after that transfer and ended up going back to Chino Hills last semester.

Fortunately the exposure she got from playing club ball helped land her Division opportunities.

“I wasn’t worried that not playing this year would hurt my recruiting. I was just disappointed that it was my senior year and I didn’t get to play,” she said.

She visited Louisiana Tech last month. It was the only official trip she took although she was also being sought after by others including Pitt and UC Davis.

“I really liked the area and the town and it’s a real college atmosphere,” she said. “They really get behind their teams.”

Lister, the daughter of Elaine and former NBA player Alton Lister, plans to major in political science with concentration in pre-law. She also like the school’s academic offerings as a national research institution.

Louisiana Tech is coming off a 10-20 season. It competes in Conference USA. The “Techsters” had a young team last year with no seniors and just three juniors.
