San Bernardino Valley College shortstop Tyler Robles has decided to spend the last two years of his collegiate career at University of North Dakota.

Robles, an Etiwanda High School graduate, visited the school located in Grand Forks over the weekend and like it enough to make a commitment on the spot.

And yes he knows it gets cold there.

“They have a brand new indoor facility that is is supposed to be done in August,” he said. “Yes I am from Southern California and I have thought about it but I think I can handle it.”

Robles hit .333 with 28 runs scored and 25 RBI in leading the Wolverines to a Foothill Conference title this season. He was also part of a title winning team as a freshman at SBVC.

He plans to major in kinesiology and wants to be a coach/teacher.

He’ll also have something to look forward to as North Dakota opens next season at USC, giving his friends and family a chance to seem him play right away.

“It has always been a dream of mine to play Division I baseball and this is a great opportunity. I’m very excited,” said Robles, a second team All-Foothill Conference selection.
