Los Osos High School graduate Paige Halstead was part of the USA Junior National team that finished fifth in the World Cup X Tournament which wrapped up Sunday at Barber Park in Irvine.

Halstead, a catcher who has signed with UCLA, went 2-for-16 (in eight games) in her first event with that team. Her hits were big hits as she had run-scoring singles in a 14-0 win over Argentina and a 14-1 win over Puerto Rico.

The event was won by the other USA Team, made up of the Senior Team members.

The USA Junior team beat Mexico 6-5 on Sunday to secure the fifth-place finish.
