Rancho Cucamonga’s Jaylon Redd a top football recruit

Rancho Cucamonga coach Nick Baiz talks about his junior Jaylon Redd.

To say Rancho Cucamonga football coach Nick Baiz is high on his junior Jaylon Redd would be quite the understatement.

Redd may have an entire two years left but Baiz, in his 10th year heading the Cougars, already says he is one of the best players he has ever coached and by the end of his career could be THE best.

That’s saying something.

Well the colleges agree. Redd already has seven offers and that number will likely be in double digits soon.

The offers thus far are from Arizona, Washington, Washington State, USC, UCLA, Colorado and Michigan. Colorado was the first.

Redd, who can play both running back and defensive back, has taken unofficial visits to USC, UCLA and Oregon.

He says the one that surprised and impressed him the most was Michigan because it isn’t a school that typically goes for a lot of West Coast players.

He doesn’t prefer one position over another and says he wants to go to the school for which he can get on the playing field sooner. He also isn’t in a hurry to make up his mind.

“It’s still early. I have a lot of time,” he said. “I’m not going to rush it.”
