Rancho Cucamonga volleyball jumps into national ranking

The Rancho Cucamonga volleyball team has jumped into the MaxPreps National rankings at No. 12.

The Cougars (8-0) earned that spot based largely on a head-to-head win over perennial title contender Corona Santiago (which is ranked No. 21)  in the title game of the Inland Empire Classic.

“I kind of liked flying under the radar,” coach Aaron Flores said. “When we were the underdog I always liked to used that as motivation. But I guess that’s not going to work any more.”

“It’s nice recognition for the girls and validation that their hard works has paid off. We have to live up to that now.”

The Cougars play at Citrus Valley tonight.
