Los Osos High School baseball standout Charlie Verrone has made a verbal commitment to Division I Butler University (Indianapolis, Ind.).
He made an unofficial trip to the school in September and plans to make an official one in the coming months.
“I really loved the coaches and it was a great small school environment,” he said. “They told me I would be given just as much of a chance to play as the guys already there and as an athlete that’s what you want to hear.”
Verrone also took unofficial trips to James Madison (Va.) and Fordham and was talking to Cal State Northridge and UC San Diego.
Verrone, who hit .271 for the Grizzlies last season, plans to major in economics.
The Butler Bulldogs are coming off a 23-30 season that included an -10 showing in the Big East.
