Don Lugo’s Ana Resendiz to be guest of Diana Taurasi at upcoming game

This year Don Lugo senior basketball standout Ana Resendiz shattered the records of Diana Taurasi, the most noted athlete to come out of that school.

Well Resendiz, her family and the Don Lugo coaches are going to be guests of Taurasi at the home opener for Taurasi’s Phoenix Mercury team on May 19 when it faces the Seattle Storm.

Resendiz has seen Taurasi play in person, that occasion coming when Taurasi’s team was playing the Sparks at Staples Center. But being Taurasi’s guest at a game will make for a memorable experience. It was made possible through Don Lugo coach Eric Waltz who reached out to the WNBA star.

Resendiz, a 5-foot-5 shooting guard, averaged 22.4 points and hit 136 3-pointers, with as many as 13 of them in a game. She hit nine against Montclair on Jan. 5 which put her over Taurasi’s 1999 single season record.
