Ganesha’s Emilio Delgado follows teammate to college

Ganesha High School baseball standout Emilio Delgado is following a current teammate and has signed with NAIA Valley City College (N.D.).

Giants catcher Matt Rhodus signed with the same school earlier this week.

Delgado excelled both at the plate and on the mound in helping the Giants to their first league title in 50 years.

He was the team’s leading hitter at .407 and also led the way in RBI (18) and runs scored (20).

He was even more pivotal on the mound, going 9-1 1ith a 1.17 ERA in 14 appearances, seven of those starts.

He turned in a complete game shutout in a 1-0 win over local rival Garey the last week of the season that secured a share of the the school’s first league title in 50 years.

He was a first-team All Miramonte League selection this year and was a four-year varsity starter.

Delgado is going primarily as a pitcher but can also play the corner infield positions.

“Right now I am going to focus on my pitching but I will play somewhere else if they need me there,” he said.
