Pearce, a pitcher, liked the direction the Coyotes program is headed under David Martinez, who is entering his second year.

“He’s a pitching guy so he can connect with us on a whole different level,” Pearce said. “I feel like I can go there and have an impact right away.”

Pearce was also considering some Division I schools – Nevada-Reno, Utah Valley and Lone Beach State as well Division II schools Azusa Pacific and Cal Poly Pomona.

He plans to major in kinesiolgy and business administration.

“They’re building a new campus on stadium that should be ready by the time I get there and it will be fun to be part of the first team to play there.” he said.

The Coyotes were 22-29 overall and 17-20 in California Collegiate Athletic Association play last year. That was significant progress from a 10-39 overall and 8-32 in CCAA play the previous year.
