Top baseball players from six leagues to play in all-league event

The top players from six leagues will be showcased in the second annual San Gabriel Valley High School All-League All-Star Challenge on Saturday at Maverick Park in West Covina.

The 11 a.m. game will pit the Miramonte League against the Marmonte League with the 3 p.m. contest featuring the Hacienda and Valle Vista.

Capping off the event is the Baseline against the Palomares at 6 p.m. with Etiwanda coach Don Furnald, whose team won the Division 2 championship, directing the Baseline team.

The event was the idea of South Hills coach Darren Murphy.

Players who earned first-team All-league honors will be on their respective teams with players from the second team and honorable mention used to fill in where needed.

The event is sponsored by Frozen Ropes.
