Don Lugo pitcher Alissa Noble headed to Toledo

Don Lugo High School pitching standout Alissa Noble has signed with NCAA Division I University of Toledo (Ohio).

It might seem like a random school for an athlete from Southern California to attend but it was a matter of being in the right place at the right time.

Noble was playing in a travel ball tournament in Hemet and was having a particularly good day. The coach of one of the team’s Noble was playing against has a daughter who is the coach at Toledo.

He told her about Noble and encouraged her to send video. The rest is history.

Noble, who plays travel ball with Firecrackers out of Rancho Cucamonga, went to visit the school and liked what she saw. She is looking forward to a change of scenery.

“It was snowing and I had never seen snow before,” she said. “I’m ready for a change. It just seemed like a good fit.”

Noble also visited Cal State San Marcos and Sonoma State, both NCAA Division II schools.

Noble has been the primary pitcher for the Conquistadors (10-5, 7-1) who have a three-game lead in the Mt. Baldy League heading into Friday’s game against Ontario.

She plans to major in athletic training or sports nutrition.

Toledo plays in the Mid-American Conference. The Rockets are currently 15-31.
