Bonita’s Amanda Legaspi part of Gold medal winning team

Bonita High School sophomore Amanda Legaspi was part of a Team USA squad that brought home a gold medal at the UANA Pan American Youth Women’s Water Polo Championships in Kingston Jamaica.

Team USA went undefeated in group play, advancing to the semifinal where they downed Brazil 21-5. The gold medal match was more competitive, with Team USA defeating Canada 9 to 7.

The team played seven games and Legaspi managed nine goals total, three of those in the win over Brazil.

Bonita’s Amanda Legaspi headed to international event

Bonita High School sophomore Amanda Legaspi will be represent the USA this summer in the UANA Pan American Youth Water Polo Championships

The event runs from Aug. 24 through Sept. 4 in Kingston, Jamaica.

Legaspi is a member of the United States Women’s National Cadet Team and the Foothill Water Polo Club.

Last year as a freshman she earned first team All-CIF and All-Palomares League honors.
