San Dimas graduate Hannah Doonan headed to Dixie State

Volleyball standout Hannah Doonan had some four-year college offers coming out of San Dimas High School two years ago but none of those were schools she was 100 percent sold on. So she decided to go the community college route and spent two years at Grossmont in San Diego.

It paid off. Doonan landed an offer from NCAA Division II Dixie State (Utah) and it was the perfect one.

She he’ll be headed top that school in the fall with two years of eligibility left.

She visited that school and December and was also considering Fresno Pacific.

“I liked the coach there,” Doonan said. “She has the same passion and the same energy as my coach as Grossmont so it felt very similar. Then when I went to visit I absolutely fell in love with the place.”

Doonan, a 5-foot-10 outside hitter, was a second-team Pacific Coast Conference pick at Grossmont at a freshman and was a first-team selection last season.

Last season the Griffins went 27-2 and advanced to the state semifinal before losing to Fresno City. In 89 sets Doonan tallied a team-high 251 kills and 68 aces, both team highs, as well as 204 digs.

She is earning her AA in business from Grossmont and plans to major in business with emphasis on Social media at Dixie State.
