Ayala running back Jordan Charles headed South

Ayala High School running back Jordan Charles has committed to and will sign with the University of San Diego on Wednesday.

Charles’ second choice was Dartmouth. He was also considering Harvard and Brown. The Ivy League education was appealing but he opted to stay closer to home.

“They have a good business school and that’s what I am interested in,” Charles said. “It’s also close enough my family and friends can come see me play.”

Charles has been the top offensive player for the Bulldogs the last two years. This season he rushed for 1,017 yards on 176 carries with six games of 100 or more yards despite injuries to both ankles that slowed him.

In 2014 as a junior he ran for 1,012 yards with four games of 100 yards or more.

Here’s to our Athletes of Week and the other strong candidates

It’s never easy to decide who is the best of the best in an area with so much athletic talent.

Here are Female and Male Athlete of the week selections for the Daily Bulletin, But I also wanted top recognize the other athletes that were heavily considered this week.

They are:

Dane Ford, Sr., QB, Don Lugo – Connected on 17 of 22 passes for 234 yards and 4 TDs in 31-14 upset of previously undefeated Chaffey. The win keeps the Conquistadores unbeaten in Mt. Baldy League play, tied with Colony.

Jordan Charles, Sr., RB, Ayala – Ran for 254 yards and 2 TDs on 30 carries in 24-21 win over previously unbeaten Claremont. The win keeps the Bulldogs tied for first in the Palomares League along with favorite Glendora.

Image result for Bruno Snow Claremont water polo

Bruno Snow, Jr., Claremont, water polo – Was a key factor in the Wolfpack winning a CIF Division 5 title last year and a reason Claremont is still carrying a No. 1 ranking this season.  Last week he registered 22 goals, 8 asissts, and 12 steals in wins over Diamond Bar, Glendora and Thousand Oaks.
