Week 2: CIF-SS football polls

Thanks to Thursday’s 21-12 loss to Redlands, Summit lasted just one week at No. 1 in the Central Division, which has had three different top-ranked teams in as many weeks this season. The SkyHawks began last season with a No. 1 ranking, lost it after one week, but finished the year as a CIF champion.

Colony’s second consecutive loss to begin the season dropped it from No. 8 out of the Central Division poll while league foe Chino’s 42-0 win over Pomona elevated it from No. 10 to No. 8. The 2010 and 2011 champions of the Mt. Baldy League will meet Oct. 26 at Chino. Until then, they’ll have to battle it out in the polls.

Week 1: CIF-SS football polls

Blowout victories in Week zero for Rancho Cucamonga and Upland somehow dropped the two Baseline League powers down a spot in the Inland Division poll as idle Corona Centennial jumped from No. 4 to No. 2. Chino Hills’ season-opening 40-21 win over Riverside Arlington moved the Huskies from No. 9 to No. 7.

Summit’s 38-6 win over Etiwanda knocked the Eagles out of the Inland Division top 10 and vaulted Summit from No. 3 to No. 1 in the Central Division thanks in part to a season-opening 46-42 loss to Wildomar Elsinore by previous No. 1 Moreno Valley Rancho Verde. Another local team ascended to No. 1 as Ontario Christian jumped from No. 3 to the top of the East Valley poll after a 31-7 victory over Bakersfield Christian on Friday.
