Shelby Kraft of Los Osos chooses San Diego State too

Los Osos High School water polo standout Shelby Kraft is headed to San Diego State.

The reigning Most Valuable Player in the Baseline League declared her intention only a few days after Grizzlies teammate Delaney Parks did the same.

She says it is a nice coincidence. The two didn’t always plan to go to the same school, this one just happened to be that high on both their lists.

“It really was one of my top schools all along,” she said. “A lot of it had to do with academics. It has the program I want and a post-graduate too so i can stay at the same school.”

Kraft is looking to pursue a career as a registered dietician.

San Diego State is one of seven schools Kraft visited, five of which are Division I. That quintet included Long Beach State, San Jose State, Indiana, and Arizona State. She made the trip to Long Beach with Parks..

Kraft, also the Daily Bulletin Player of the Year, also liked what the water polo program had to offer so it was the best of both worlds.

“I really liked the coaches,” she said, “Of course San Diego is nice too so I liked everything about it.”
