Webb volleyball finishes second in San Joaquin League
David Albers and Webb find success at Ayala Water Polo Tournament
David Albers and the Webb Schools dominated the Ayala Tournament with two victories on Thursday.
Albers scored nine goals for the Gauls in the victory over Temecula Chaparral, 22-10.
Travis Alvarado scored seven goals against the Pumas while Mitchel Fargo contributed with four of his own.
At the net, goalkeeper Max Sapozhkov had 11 saves. He also had seven saves in Webb’s second game of the day, which resulted in a 18-2 win over Nogales.
Albers, Stephen Silides and Andre Ardelan each had three goals against the Nobles. Philip Kraus led the Gauls with four goals.
Webb will play in the quarterfinals against Charter Oak today at 6 p.m.
Adrian Hui of Webb in the hunt for two individual CIF titles
Senior Adrian Hui of Webb will compete in the CIF Southern Section’s boys 50 yard freestyle championship event as the No. 1 seed. Hui had a qualifying time of 21.49 seconds.
Hui is also seeded No. 6 in the 100 yard butterfly following a time of 52.23 in the prelims.
David Albers of Webb will also compete in the consolation finals of the 50 yard freestyle. Albers is also competing in the consolation of the 100 yard free.
Richard Parnell will compete in the championship finals of the 100 free.

Jacob Ahmad named girls basketball coach at Webb
Jacob Ahmad has been named the girls basketball coach at The Webb Schools. He had most recently served as junior varsity coach at Chaffey High School.
Ahmad, 22, began his coaching career at the Upland YMCA working with the 9-15 year old age groups.
“Coach Ahmad was very impressive when meeting with members of the team and school community, he articulated a vision that matched the goals and philosophy of the school while also showing proven ability to coach and develop players,” Webb Athletic Director Stephen Wishek said in a prepared statement.
Ahmad is a Chaffey High graduate. Not only did he play basketball, he also excelled in football and track.
He also attended Chaffey College and is finishing up his degree in kinesiology at Cal State San Bernardino.
Webb begins its season at Garey High on Dec. 5.
