Senior setter Mallory Beard of Chino Hills has committed to NCAA Division I Hampton University (Va.). She visited the school earlier this month.

Beard, who helped the Huskies (17-8) to a share of the Sierra League title, has 530 assists (8.5 pg), 120 digs and 29 aces. The highlight of her season was a week in early October in which she was named national player of the week.

Beard, who plans to major in performing arts or psychology, also considering Jackson State (Miss.) and Coppin State (Md.).

Hampton is 16-10 overall and 10-2 in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference.
