Preserve Ontario

At tomorrow's meeting, the City Council will accept the Preserve America Community Designation Certificate from Congressman Joe Baca's office.

Preserve America is an iniative formed by the White House to support community efforts to preserve the nation's cultural and natural heritage.

In August 2007 the council authorized staff to apply to have Ontario designated as a Preserve America Community. In October 2007, the city was notified that it had received the designation.

In the staff report to the council "the city has the ability to apply for Preserve America grants, receive a Preserve America road sign and the authority to use the Preserve America logo on promotional material."

Earlier this year the city installed three road signs. Keep a look out for them if you drive by Euclid Avenue median near the 10 Freeway and 60 Freeway, also on Archibald Avenue north of Airport Drive.

The council meets Tuesday night at 6:30 p.m., City Hall council chambers, 303 East B Street.
