Yard Sale to raise funds for Animal Shelter

The West End Shelter for Animals will hold its Annual Yard Sale on Saturday, October 4, 2008, from 8 am- 2 pm. The Shelter depends on the Annual Rummage Sale to raise funds to continue running this no-kill, non-profit, pet placement and adoption center, which opened in 1954. In addition to the Rummage Sale, pet adoptions, the weekly shot clinic, and donations from the community contribute to the operating budget of the Shelter to keep it running smoothly.

This year's Yard Sale is particularly exciting, because it kicks-off the Shelter's new fundraising plan. The West End Shelter for Animals is raising funds to renovate the existing senior canine buildings and construct a new shelter building, which will include a veterinary clinic and new pet adoption areas.

"The Annual Rummage Sale is a great time for the community to come out and see the animals and contribute to the work of the Shelter," stated Anne Linquist, Director on the West End Shelter for Animals Board of Directors. "We are extremely excited to be embarking on our new fundraising campaign to provide a new space for the animals and for future pet owners."

The Shelter is also seeking donations from the community to support its daily operations. The following items are needed: cat litter, canned dog food, blankets, bleach, paper goods, office supplies, dog collars and leashes, newspaper, treats, and toys.

The West End Shelter for Animals is located at 1010 E. Mission Blvd., in Ontario. Volunteers are needed to work the day of the Rummage Sale, to help set-up, clean-up, and sort merchandise. If you are
interested in volunteering for the Rummage Sale or for other tasks at the Shelter, please log on to
www.westendshelter.com or call (909)947-3517.
