Ms Norma Torres I was reading an article in todays paper regarding your and Kamal Harris Bill "Keeping sexual predators off Facebook and My Space". And not sure it is as George Runner called it "an empty bill" because I feel that anything that is going to keep our children safe is worth fighting for, but here is a question that as a mother, grandmother I would like to ask. How can we keep a registered sex offender away from children after they have completed their probation? Are these sex offenders cured or just keeping low and being decrete. As told by someone in law enforcement when the name of the person was given and informed them that he was constantly around children they brought up his file and said "This man has completed his probation and has not so much as even spit on the sidewalk, there is nothing we can do." This man is constantly around children ranging from ages I would say about 3 to 12. Why my concern, my grandchildren are two of them. I am not from Ontario but the your article did come out in The
Sun so I am inclined to believe you speak for all. Do to completion of probation are we to feel that registered sex offenders are OK. Somehow the parental protection flag still remains. The mothers of these children who are single mothers are well aware of his past and still allow this man to come into their home as they consider him a GOOD friend of the family. I write you because of your article, and how sex offenders are not allowed to live by schools or parks. But what about being near children in general. Or is this comment in the newspaper only directed for offenders who are still on Parole or Probation?
