Free workshop for parents and Community
On Nov. 6 the City of Ontario, Reach Out and Loma Linda University Behaviorial Medicine Center will be collaborating to hold free workshops for parents and community members on the issue of self-injury.
The workshops will provide help and guidance for someone who self-injures. The workshops will be taught by Susan Hagerman of Loma Linda University Behaviorial Medical Center.
-The first meeting will be for school counselors and therapists, behaviorial health professionals and child care providing professionals on how to understand the signs of a youth who self-injures, as well as the best way to approach teens.
The meeting will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
-The second workshop will be for teens. Teens are encourage to attend and learn why someone would and discuss any personal experiences. The workshop will be from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.
-The final workshop in the day will be for parents and community members and will shed light on potential reasons why someone might self-injures. It will also offer techniques for dealing with someone who does.
