Ontario/Chaffey Community Show Band
The Ontario/Chaffey Community Show Band, will open its concert season Oct. 12 with a special program, "Big Bands of the Past."
Directed by Jack Mercer, the show will feature tunes by Glenn Miller, Artie Shaw, George Gershwin and other Big Band.
Special guests will include vocalists Shiela Ruff performing "Tuxedo Junction" and Brian Detwiller performing "Strike Up the Band."
During the show, Pamela Murphy, an award-winning sculpturist and former member of the Show Band, will unveil her bust of Mercer.
The free program begins at 7:30 p.m. at Gardiner Spring Auditorium, on the campus of Chaffey High School, 1245 N. Euclid Avenue.
